Tyler Shough is the NFL’s best QB in one area (and it transformed the Saints offense)

Darrion Gray writes that New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough has transformed the team's offense by becoming the NFL's most efficient passer in the red zone. The Saints have vastly improved inside the 20-yard line, converting 84.2% of red zone drives into touchdowns compared to just 44.4% in 2025. Gray credits Shough's stellar decision-making and accuracy for spearheading this dramatic turnaround.

According to the article, Shough leads the NFL with a 0% red zone interception rate alongside 17 career red zone touchdown passes. In 2026, 10 of his 12 passing touchdowns have come inside the 20-yard line. He also leads all quarterbacks with a 74.4% completion rate and a 39.5% touchdown rate in that area.
