The San Diego Padres quietly bolstered their lower-level talent pipeline on October 21, 2026, by signing two free agents to minor-league contracts, according to the official MiLB transaction log.
The San Diego Padres signed free agents Lenyert Rios and Alexis Medina to minor-league contracts on October 21, 2026. Both Venezuelan players join the organization without prior professional statistics as part of general manager A.J. Preller's effort to add lower-level depth.
Rios is a roughly 20-year-old outfielder, while Medina is an approximately 17-year-old right-handed pitcher. These low-risk, non-40-man deals will likely place both prospects in the Dominican Summer League or Arizona Complex League for the 2027 season.
