Ty Jerome set a Memphis Grizzlies franchise record for a season opener by scoring 45 points in a lopsided victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The eighth-year guard shot 17-of-25 from the field and added seven rebounds along with six assists across 32 minutes of action.
Jerome received MVP chants from the Memphis crowd, marking a major shift from the prior season when a calf strain delayed his debut until January. Teammate Scotty Pippen Jr. praised Jerome's scoring efficiency, noting that his stellar opening-night performance came as no surprise following offseason practices.
