The Philadelphia 76ers landed LeBron James this offseason, and Cleveland Cavaliers coach Kenny Atkinson has offered a candid reminder of what that signing meant to another contender. Cleveland was anticipating a reunion with its former superstar. When James chose Philadelphia…

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson admitted feeling "depressed" after LeBron James chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. Atkinson told ESPN's Dave McMenamin that the Cavaliers were anticipating and excited about a potential reunion with the superstar forward before James officially joined Philadelphia in July.
The disappointment was compounded when James and the 76ers rallied from a 29-point deficit to defeat the Cavaliers 114-106 in Philadelphia's home opener. James posted 17 points and 10 rebounds in the win, alongside 32 points from Tyrese Maxey and 24 points from Joel Embiid.
