Anthony Davis was the best player on the floor in the Wizards’ opener. One of Washington’s most encouraging stretches came while he was watching from the bench.
Anthony Davis recorded 34 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Washington Wizards to a 128-116 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks in their season opener. Washington secured the win behind a decisive fourth-quarter surge from bench and supporting players including Kyshawn George, Justin Champagnie, and Deandre Ayton, while Davis and Trae Young rested.
Elsewhere around the league, Utah Jazz rookie Darryn Peterson scored nine points during a 123-103 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. In Brooklyn, Julius Randle and Michael Porter Jr. combined for 59 points in their Nets debut, though the team fell 110-103 to the Charlotte Hornets.
