Victor Wembanyama might head into his lab again. The French big man entered the fresh season with expectations of taking another step toward becoming the NBA’s most dominant player. Instead, his opening-night performance against OKC raised questions about his offensive…

Carmelo Anthony questioned Victor Wembanyama's offseason development following the San Antonio Spurs star's difficult offensive showing in a 116-104 season-opening loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Speaking on his 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, Anthony stated that he did not see any developed skill set in Wembanyama's offensive approach during the game. Wembanyama struggled offensively, converting just one field goal on 13 attempts.
Anthony suggested that Wembanyama needs to establish reliable, traditional interior moves to complement his perimeter game when jump shots fail to fall. Despite his scoring difficulties, Wembanyama recorded 12 points, 13 rebounds, and six blocks in the contest. Wembanyama acknowledged his struggles after the game, admitting he was not decisive and may have been overthinking his shot selection.
