Audi junior Freddie Slater will make his Formula 1 practice debut with two Free Practice 1 outings in Mexico City and Sao Paulo. The 18-year-old Briton finished as runner-up and highest-placed rookie in Formula 3 behind Ugo Ugochukwu. He will drive in place of Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto once each to help Audi satisfy F1's mandatory young-driver session requirements.
Ahead of a planned move to Formula 2 with Invicta next season, Slater's sessions mark his first official grand prix appearances. Meanwhile, Cadillac test driver Colton Herta will participate in FP1 at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, taking over Sergio Perez's car for his fourth practice run of the season.
