A $44 million Colts running back has emerged as a potential Giants trade target following Indianapolis' front-office shakeup. Could a blockbuster deal happen?

The New York Giants have been linked with a potential trade for Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor ahead of the deadline. Following the Colts' firing of general manager Chris Ballard, speculation has emerged that Indianapolis could consider major roster adjustments. Former Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has urged New York to make the trade to bolster a struggling backfield currently managed under head coach John Harbaugh.
According to analysis from ESPN's Dan Graziano, acquiring Taylor would leave a team responsible for roughly $5.3 million for the rest of the 2026 season, while the Colts would take on $10 million in dead money for 2027. Despite Taylor signing a two-year, $44 million contract extension in August, writer Chris Pownall highlights that financial feasibility and New York's need to support quarterback Jaxson Dart make the blockbuster move a compelling possibility.
