"‘You traded him down the street?’ So, I was just as much caught off guard as the rest of the world."

Jaylen Brown appeared to question former Boston Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum's claim that he was caught off guard by Brown's trade to the Philadelphia 76ers. In a newly released video, Tatum claimed he learned of the July blockbuster trade in person from reporter Shams Charania in Las Vegas. Brown responded on Instagram to a video of the comments using a blue baseball cap emoji, which commonly signifies disbelief or calling someone a liar.
Despite the apparent skepticism over how the trade unfolded, Tatum expressed deep gratitude for their nine-year partnership in Boston, which included winning an NBA championship in 2024. Brown has started the 2026-27 season 2-0 with the 76ers after helping lead a 29-point comeback win against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
