The Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders have officially unionized after the Dallas Cowboys organization voluntarily recognized the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Association as the squad's collective bargaining representative. The decision follows meaningful discussions between both sides, and collective bargaining negotiations are now scheduled to begin.
The unionization comes after prolonged scrutiny over low wages, spotlighted by former cheerleader Erica Wilkins' 2018 wage lawsuit and the Netflix series America’s Sweethearts. Although dancers previously secured a 400% pay raise up to $75 per hour, the contract lacked health insurance.
