Raiders’ Dont’e Thornton running out of time as roster deadline looms
Key Things to Know
  • Raiders wide receiver Dont’e Thornton will not play Sunday and faces an October 28 deadline to be activated.
  • Thornton will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season if not activated by the deadline.
  • Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak confirmed that Thornton is healthy but still working to regain his football readiness.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Dont’e Thornton faces an impending roster deadline as his 21-day practice evaluation window closes on October 28. Despite being confirmed healthy by head coach Klint Kubiak, Thornton will not be activated for Sunday’s game against the Rams. If the team fails to activate him by the deadline, he will be forced to remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.

Thornton was drafted in the fourth round of the 2025 draft out of Tennessee but posted only 10 catches for 135 yards in his rookie year. His roster prospects are further complicated by receiver Jack Bech, who is eligible to return from a broken forearm next week and is expected to reclaim a 53-man roster spot.
