Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert hailed a "proper team performance" after his side cut the gap on the Championship's top two to just two points.
Southampton head coach Tonda Eckert praised a "proper team performance" following his side's 3-2 victory over West Ham at the London Stadium. First-half goals from Kuryu Matsuki, James Bree, and Lewis Dobbin secured the win for Saints, while Kyle Walker-Peters and Tomas Soucek scored for the hosts. The result cut Southampton's gap to the Championship's top two to just two points.
The defeat ended a nine-match unbeaten streak for Nuno Espirito Santo's West Ham side, who missed an opportunity to move top of the table. Eckert highlighted a crucial late save by goalkeeper Daniel Peretz against Taty Castellanos, acknowledging the need for strong defensive resilience away from home.
