Julian Alvarez has apologized to Atletico Madrid supporters for comments he made during World Cup 2026 suggesting a move away would be best. The Argentine forward was targeted by Barcelona for a permanent transfer over the summer window, but the deal was not completed and he remained with Atletico.
Speaking after scoring the winning goal against Deportivo, Alvarez admitted his previous statements were a mistake in timing and delivery. Meanwhile, Barcelona sporting director Deco indicated the Catalan club has moved on, remarking that Alvarez is now in the past.
