Alexander Volkanovski has called out lightweight champion Justin Gaethje for a superfight following his victory at UFC 333. The 38-year-old featherweight champion retained his 145-pound title by defeating previously unbeaten contender Movsar Evloev via second-round TKO in Abu Dhabi. After the win, Volkanovski expressed his desire to move up to 155 pounds to challenge Gaethje in what could serve as a potential retirement bout.
UFC president Dana White indicated that he is open to making the lightweight superfight happen. Volkanovski previously fell short in two separate bids to capture the lightweight championship against Islam Makhachev, but he remains eager to secure a double-champion status before concluding his mixed martial arts career.
