One of Xabi Alonso's most brutal first acts as Chelsea boss has come to light…

Striker Liam Delap revealed he was forced to train away from Chelsea's first team and had his shirt number taken away before his summer exit. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso relegated Delap to a separate training group and handed his No. 9 jersey to Joao Pedro before Delap completed a transfer away from Stamford Bridge.
Delap subsequently completed a club-record £50 million permanent transfer to Nottingham Forest in late August. The forward credited his father, Rory Delap, and Forest manager Oliver Glasner as key influences during the transition following his 14-month stay at Chelsea.
