Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first against England in Lahore, aiming to secure a spot in the final. Shaheen Afridi opted to field on a flat wicket under sunny conditions, handing an ODI debut to Razaullah. Meanwhile, England handed an international debut to fast bowler Henry Crocombe.
Pakistan brought back Shadab Khan to strengthen their spin attack, while Faheem Ashraf and Naseem Shah missed out, with Naseem suffering a dislocated finger during warm-ups. For England, Josh Tongue made way for Crocombe, while spinner Adil Rashid was once again left out of the playing eleven.
