Key Things to Know

  • Any future permanent transfer would require Manchester City to pay a substantial fee.
The Story in 60 Seconds

Borussia Dortmund remain relaxed amid growing transfer interest from Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool in 17-year-old winger Mathis Albert. According to reports from Bild, Manchester City are currently leading the race ahead of their Premier League rivals for the American international. However, Dortmund have secured an agreement for the player to sign a professional contract once he turns 18 on May 21.

Albert has already made three senior appearances under Dortmund manager Niko Kovac. Although signing a professional deal will require any suitor to pay a substantial permanent transfer fee, reports suggest a future move remains possible if the teenager fails to secure regular first-team playing time.
