Former Ipswich Town goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 35. The Czech shot-stopper decided to hang up his gloves after potential contract negotiations to rejoin his hometown club, Zbrojovka Brno, broke down. He now intends to focus on personal projects outside of the sport.
Hladky played a pivotal role in Ipswich Town's promotion to the Premier League, starting all 46 Championship matches during the 2023/24 season under Kieran McKenna. After leaving Portman Road in the summer of 2024, he spent two seasons with Burnley before being released at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.
