Alpine has issued an official statement backing driver Franco Colapinto following controversial comments made by television presenter Jeremy Clarkson during the United States Grand Prix weekend. Appearing as a team guest on Sky Sports F1 at the Circuit of the Americas, Clarkson joked that Colapinto had received a grid penalty simply "for being Argentinian." Alpine responded by stating that the team is aware of comments made by a guest and affirmed that Colapinto has its full support.
Clarkson linked his remarks to a 2014 Top Gear incident in Argentina involving a controversial Porsche license plate. In reality, Colapinto received a 10-place grid penalty at the United States Grand Prix for taking a fourth new control electronics unit of the 2026 season.
