Kyler Murray's tendency to target tight ends could help T.J. Hockenson earn another contract with the Minnesota Vikings.

The Viking Age's Chris Schad argues that quarterback Kyler Murray's tendency to heavily target tight ends could lead to a costly contract extension for T.J. Hockenson with the Minnesota Vikings. Hockenson is in the final year of his reworked contract and set to become a free agent at the end of the season. His recent high target volume prior to a Week 5 concussion suggests his offensive role is rapidly expanding.
Schad highlights Murray's history in Arizona with tight end Trey McBride, noting that a similar workload could significantly elevate Hockenson's market value. Although Spotrac currently projects Hockenson's next contract at around $10.2 million per year, strong production alongside Murray could force Minnesota into a difficult financial decision ahead of the tight end's age-30 season.
