We’re waiting, NWSL. Canada left-back Janine Sonis’ NWSL MVP-calibre season, somehow, found yet another level on Saturday night, as the 32-year-old tallied her seventh and eighth assists of the 2026 season for the Denver Summit in a 6-1 thrashing of…

Janine Sonis delivered two assists to help lead Denver Summit to a dominant 6-1 victory over Racing Louisville on Saturday night at Centennial Stadium. The Canadian left-back celebrated her 150th NWSL appearance by setting up goals for Tash Flint in the 19th minute and Kaleigh Kurtz in first-half stoppage time. The performance pushed Sonis past the 20-goal contribution milestone for the 2026 season, bringing her totals to 12 goals and eight assists.
The lopsided win keeps expansion club Denver Summit firmly in the postseason hunt heading into their final regular-season fixture against North Carolina Courage. Denver requires a win alongside a Seattle Reign slip-up against Orlando Pride to clinch a playoff berth. Meanwhile, Sonis maintains peak form ahead of Canada's Concacaf W Championship quarterfinal matchup against Panama scheduled for November 28.
