Dayot Upamecano opened the scoring in Bayern Munich's 3-1 Bundesliga victory over SC Freiburg with an impressive solo run from defense. After driving forward, the French center-back finished clinically following an assist from Michael Olise to give Bayern an early lead.
Interim head coach Aaron Danks revealed the goal resulted from deliberate preparation rather than spontaneous play. The coaching staff had reviewed a similar missed run from their recent Champions League match against Arsenal, using the footage to help Upamecano execute the chance against Freiburg.
