The Canberra Raiders have withdrawn a $4.4 million offer to State of Origin forward Hudson Young.
The Canberra Raiders have officially withdrawn a record four-year, $4.4 million contract offer to State of Origin forward Hudson Young. The club confirmed the decision on Monday after set deadlines passed without a resolution, stating they had done everything possible to keep him in Canberra long-term. Young remains under contract with the Raiders through the 2027 season.
The withdrawal leaves the PNG Chiefs as the frontrunners to sign the 28-year-old forward to a permanent deal. To complete the signing, the Chiefs will reportedly need to pay Young at least $1 million per season, in line with the NRL salary cap auditor's official valuation.
