Kylian Mbappé scored twice, including a late winner, as Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 and ended Hansi Flick's run of nine straight La Liga wins. Barcelona stay top, but their lead over Atlético Madrid is down to two points.
Kylian Mbappé scored twice to lead Real Madrid to a 2-1 victory over Barcelona at Spotify Camp Nou on Sunday night. The result ended Hansi Flick's nine-game winning start to the La Liga campaign and marked Madrid's first league win at the stadium since October 2021. Mbappé opened the scoring in the 41st minute before Raphinha equalized for the hosts, but Mbappé struck again late off an Eduardo Camavinga assist.
The decisive late strike marked Mbappé's 100th goal for Real Madrid in his 116th appearance. Despite controlling 62% of possession and generating 18 shots, Barcelona suffered their second consecutive defeat across all competitions. Hansi Flick's side remains atop La Liga, but their advantage has narrowed to two points over second-placed Atlético Madrid and three over Real Madrid.
