Ted Cruz's appearance on the F1 podium in Austin was met with boos.

US Senator Ted Cruz was loudly booed on the Formula 1 podium during the presentation ceremony following the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas. Cruz, a Republican and ally of US President Donald Trump, appeared on the podium to hand the winner's trophy to Mercedes driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli, alongside podium finishers Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen.
Despite the crowd's hostile reaction, Cruz later took to social media to call it an incredible day and congratulate Antonelli. The event took place amid political tensions ahead of the November 3 US midterm elections, with broader geopolitical concerns also surrounding Formula 1's planned season-ending races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
