Joe Maddon will throw out the first pitch of Game 3 of the 2026 World Series for the Rays, reminding Angels fans just how painful their recent coaching history has really been.

The Tampa Bay Rays have chosen former manager Joe Maddon to throw out the ceremonial first pitch ahead of Game 3 of the World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Maddon previously led the Rays to their first American League pennant in 2008 and won two Manager of the Year awards with the club.
Writer Brandon Glick notes that Maddon's appearance serves as a stark reminder of the Los Angeles Angels' recent managerial turnover. Following Maddon's departure from Anaheim, the Angels cycled through four managers—Phil Nevin, Ron Washington, Ray Montgomery, and Kurt Suzuki—without achieving sustained success.
