The Story in 60 Seconds

Boxing trainer Don Charles claimed former Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong could have become a world champion boxer had he chosen boxing over football. Charles, who trains heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois, worked in Bassong's corner during the charity event A Night to Remember III, where Bassong defeated former Arsenal full-back Armand Traore after the fight was waved off in the third round.

Bassong stepped into the headline bout after an original match between Nile Ranger and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas was called off due to a failed medical. The former Cameroon international revealed he began taking boxing seriously two years ago after retiring from football in 2019.
