Athletic Club winger Nico Williams has confirmed he received "countless offers" to leave the club amid past transfer interest from Arsenal and Barcelona. Backing up recent statements made by his agent, the Spanish international stated that despite significant external interest, he remained clear about his intention to stay with the La Liga side.
Arsenal had repeatedly pursued a permanent transfer for Williams before he committed his long-term future to Athletic Club by signing a 10-year contract running through 2035. That deal also increased his release clause by more than 50%, effectively ending Arsenal's hopes of completing a deal.
