The top stories and transfer rumours from Tuesday's newspapers…

Manchester United would reportedly need to pay up to £6m in compensation to Newcastle United to hire manager Eddie Howe if they decide to replace Michael Carrick. Howe has reportedly been scouting Manchester United games and would likely insist on bringing his entire backroom staff if approached by the club. Reports also suggest that Howe and Julian Nagelsmann both have internal backing at Old Trafford should a managerial change occur.
Elsewhere in the media roundup, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS has reportedly listed Swiss club FC Lausanne-Sport for sale, while Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has invested an additional £100m into City Football Group. Other transfer rumors include Crystal Palace eyeing Thomas Frank if Pierre Sage is dismissed, and Rob Edwards turning down an approach from Burnley to replace Nicky Hayen.
