Bam Adebayo pushed back against external criticism after scoring just eight points in the Miami Heat's 113-109 loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The defeat dropped Miami to an 0-4 start on the season, with Adebayo shooting 3-of-10 from the field. Speaking postgame, Adebayo dismissed concerns over his missed shots and claimed outside noise was attempting to turn him into the team's scapegoat.
Writer Adam Martin argues that Adebayo appeared to deflect responsibility toward critics rather than addressing his poor play. Heat point guard Davion Mitchell also addressed Adebayo's offensive struggles, stating that while he needs to set up the center better, Adebayo must be more intentional and improve floor spacing alongside teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo.
