Astros GM Search: Mike Rizzo May Be Exactly What Jim Crane Wants — and That Says Everything

The Crawfish Boxes' Joel-Blank argues that former Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo could be an ideal fit for Houston Astros owner Jim Crane. Rizzo has emerged as a prominent candidate for the Astros' general manager vacancy, with reports indicating mutual interest and a potential interview scheduled. The franchise reportedly plans to finalize its general manager hiring before choosing its next field manager.

Blank suggests Rizzo's extensive experience appeals to Crane's hands-on ownership style while balancing modern analytics with traditional scouting. Meanwhile, Houston has already modernized its development department by hiring Connor Watson and Clayton Thompson from Driveline backgrounds, indicating a hybrid approach.
