The New York Islanders acquired forward and then-captain of the St. Louis Blues, Brayden Schenn, at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline.

Brayden Schenn reportedly rejected a trade to the Toronto Maple Leafs before eventually being dealt to the New York Islanders at the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline. According to reporter Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs and St. Louis Blues had previously agreed to a framework at the 2025 deadline involving top prospects Easton Cowan, Ben Danford, and a first-round pick before Schenn exercised his no-trade clause.
The Blues later traded Schenn to the Islanders in exchange for a permanent package consisting of a first-round pick, prospect Marcus Gidlof, Jonathan Drouin, and a third-round selection. The 35-year-old forward has since contributed regularly in New York, where he serves as a rotating alternate captain for the 2026-27 season.
