The Houston Astros announced they released a 27-year-old during the World Series between the Brewers and the Rays.

The Houston Astros have announced the release of 27-year-old outfielder Nelson Velázquez during the World Series. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, the release was granted to allow Velázquez to pursue a playing opportunity with an undisclosed club in Asia.
Houston initially claimed Velázquez off waivers from the St. Louis Cardinals in August before re-signing him. Across 18 regular-season appearances with the Astros, he hit .111 with two home runs and six RBI, while also hitting a pinch-hit two-run home run in the AL Wild Card Series.
