With Miroshnichenko exploring a trade from Washington, the Oilers have a golden opportunity to add a young power forward with top-six upside.

Ivan Miroshnichenko has reportedly received permission from the Washington Capitals to speak with other teams to help facilitate a trade due to limited NHL playing time. In response, writer Kyle Odland proposes that the Edmonton Oilers pursue the 2022 first-round pick by offering prospect forward Quinn Hutson and a 2027 second-round draft pick to Washington.
Odland argues Miroshnichenko's physical, north-south style would fit well under Edmonton head coach Mike Babcock alongside former teammate Vasily Podkolzin. Although Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery recently praised Miroshnichenko's professionalism, Odland notes Washington could potentially seek a first-round pick or a higher-end prospect in return rather than accepting a futures-based package.
