Connor Hellebuyck earned a victory in his New Jersey Devils debut as the team defeated the Dallas Stars 5-1 on Tuesday night. Hellebuyck stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced in the win, while teammate Nico Hischier led the offense with two goals in Dallas.
The game marked Hellebuyck's first start since being acquired by the Devils in a trade from the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. The 33-year-old three-time Vezina Trophy winner was moved following a suspension by Winnipeg for failing to report to training camp after an offseason trade request.
