Washington Commanders cornerback Trey Amos returned to action in Week 7 against the San Francisco 49ers after recovering from a fractured fibula sustained in November 2025. Playing on a pitch count, Amos recorded two tackles and allowed two catches on three targets across 36 snaps while splitting playing time with Rasul Douglas. Head coach Dan Quinn praised the second-year cornerback's resilience and mental focus throughout his lengthy rehabilitation process.

According to Bair, Amos settling into a full-time role alongside Amik Robertson would optimize Washington's defensive backfield rotation. While Quinn emphasized that the group does not need a single savior, the defense is expected to improve as Amos gradually increases his workload.
