The Baltimore Orioles introduced Jared Banner as the franchise's new general manager during a press conference on Tuesday. President of baseball operations Mike Elias explained that Banner's arrival will provide operational support and split front-office duties. Elias stated that Banner will manage internal players, coaches, player performance, and healthcare, while Elias focuses primarily on scouting, contracts, and player acquisitions.
Banner addressed the fan base directly, acknowledging recent frustrations and committing to building a winning organization. Facing a potentially condensed offseason ahead of the December 1 expiration of the sport's Basic Agreement, Banner noted the front office aims for coaching continuity while approaching upcoming operations as business as usual.
