Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz had been in the game for three innings when the ground ball found him with the team three outs from the first World Series title in franchise history.

Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz offered no excuses after his 12th-inning throwing error contributed to a 4-3 loss against the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 4 of the World Series. Ortiz stated he should have taken additional steps toward first base before making the throw on Junior Caminero's ground ball, which bounced short of Jake Bauers.
The error sparked a bottom-of-the-12th rally where five consecutive Rays reached base, overcoming Cooper Pratt's go-ahead home run from the top of the frame. Despite the defeat, Milwaukee leads the series 3-1, with Jacob Misiorowski scheduled to start Game 5.
