The New York Giants are placing running back Tyrone Tracy on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury, general manager Joe Schoen announced on Tuesday. The move requires Tracy to miss at least four games, though the ailment is not considered season-ending. In a corresponding roster move, the Giants are signing running back Gregory Desrosiers off the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad.
Tracy has tallied 109 scrimmage yards and three total touchdowns through seven games this season, alongside serving as a kick returner. Following the prior release of Najee Harris, New York will rely primarily on Cam Skattebo and Devin Singletary in the backfield during Tracy's absence, while Desrosiers competes for depth and special teams snaps.
