The Story in 60 Seconds

Kevin Sinfield became tearful during the BBC documentary "Thank You Sir Kev" as he explained it was time to end his ultramarathon challenges. The 46-year-old stated that while he remains committed to fundraising for motor neurone disease (MND) for life, he wants to release his dedicated support team from the demanding physical challenges so they can focus on their own lives.

Sinfield began his endurance challenges in 2020 following the diagnosis of his former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow, who passed away in 2024. Having raised over £13 million and covered more than 2,000 kilometers, Sinfield's efforts funded a specialized MND center in Leeds and earned praise from figures including Prince William.
