Washington Capitals forward Ivan Miroshnichenko has requested a trade to secure more ice time, according to a report from Elliotte Friedman. The Capitals have reportedly granted their 2022 first-round draft pick permission to speak with other NHL clubs to facilitate a permanent trade deal. Miroshnichenko has frequently served as a healthy scratch due to Washington's forward depth.
Writer John Murray proposes the rebuilding Vancouver Canucks as an ideal landing spot where Miroshnichenko could skate alongside Elias Pettersson. Murray argues that Capitals general manager Chris Patrick could acquire future draft picks while opening a roster spot for prospect Andrew Cristall.
