Olen Zellweger is hitting his stride with the Sabres after arriving to Western New York in an offseason trade from the Anaheim Ducks, Buffalo's next opponent.

Buffalo Sabres defenseman Olen Zellweger spoke about facing his former team, the Anaheim Ducks, ahead of Thursday's matchup at the Honda Center. Buffalo acquired the 23-year-old blueliner during the offseason in exchange for prospect Anton Wahlberg and a second-round draft pick. Zellweger noted that returning to play against the Ducks will be cool, downplaying revenge narratives.
Zellweger has registered five points in his past seven games while skating alongside Owen Power on Buffalo's second defensive pairing. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff praised his skating and defensive play following Tuesday's 2-0 victory against the San Jose Sharks. Buffalo previously signed Zellweger to a three-year, $9.3 million contract extension.
