Former Nationals GM Mike Rizzo was interviewed by the Houston Astros for the same role he held for many years in Washington on Monday and Tuesday.

The Houston Astros are interviewing former Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo for their open general manager role, according to a report by Bob Nightengale of USA TODAY. Houston is searching for front-office leadership following the departure of former general manager Dana Brown, who parted ways with the organization in August.
District on Deck writer JJ Phillips strongly criticizes the potential hire, arguing that Rizzo kept the Nationals outdated technologically following their 2019 World Series title. Phillips believes hiring Rizzo would further accelerate the Astros' ongoing decline given Houston's depleted farm system and front-office instability under owner Jim Crane.
