After a solid performance against Everton last weekend, Chelsea crashed back down to earth, losing 2-0 to Spurs at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso admitted his side must improve following a 2-0 Premier League defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur. The loss at Stamford Bridge saw Chelsea slip to fifth place in the league table, marked by a red card shown to Cole Palmer and an own goal by young goalkeeper Mike Penders, who made his first Premier League start in place of injured Emiliano Martinez.
Alonso noted that conceding the opening goal and Palmer's subsequent dismissal dramatically altered the match. Palmer will serve his suspension in the Carabao Cup fixture against Liverpool, while striker Joao Pedro remains doubtful for the upcoming match due to fluid on an injury.
