The parents of eight-year-old Adrian Thompson have released surveillance footage showing her choking on food at Velma Penny Elementary School in Lindale, Texas, on April 15. The footage captures the young girl attempting to seek help from a school staff member before running to the nurse's office, as her family questions whether school personnel took adequate action to save her life.

According to an investigation by the Texas Rangers, an employee mistakenly thought Adrian was sick before directing her toward a restroom. A school nurse later administered the Heimlich maneuver and CPR after Adrian collapsed, but the eight-year-old subsequently died at Cook Children's Medical Center on April 16. The Texas Rangers previously cleared the school staff of any criminal wrongdoing.
