Texas Rangers first baseman Jake Burger has been named the 2026 Philanthropist of the Year by the Players Trust, the charitable arm of the Major League Baseball Players Association. The honor was announced on October 28, 2026, as part of the annual Players Choice Awards.
Burger's recent charitable and community efforts have concentrated on causes related to Down's syndrome, inspired by his daughter, Penelope. After joining the Rangers, he switched his uniform number to 21 to represent the extra Chromosome 21 associated with the condition.
