A World Series champion relief pitcher remains a free agent 554 days after throwing his last MLB pitch. Here's a look at his future.

Former Texas Rangers reliever José Leclerc remains a free agent 554 days after throwing his last Major League Baseball pitch on April 22, 2025. The 2023 World Series champion was released from his minor-league contract by the San Diego Padres on September 7, 2026, following a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A El Paso.
Leclerc struggled through recovery from July 2025 shoulder surgery, compiling a 7.77 ERA across 24.1 minor-league innings in 2026. The right-hander previously played a vital role in Texas's 2023 title run and is expected to pursue minor-league opportunities this winter.
