The league has been put on notice.
Washington Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery praised Philadelphia Flyers forward Matvei Michkov ahead of Wednesday's rivalry game, stating it is only a matter of time before he becomes an elite NHL goal-scorer. Despite the Flyers losing 11 of their first 14 games, the 21-year-old winger has emerged as a major bright spot, tallying eight goals, two assists, and 10 points early in the campaign.
Michkov's strong start puts him on pace for 48 goals after scoring 46 across his first two NHL seasons. Carbery, who previously coached Auston Matthews and Alex Ovechkin, highlighted Michkov's exceptional talent, puck possession, and offensive zone movement.
