Former WBO bantamweight champion Jason Moloney has signed a promotional deal with Zuffa Boxing. The 35-year-old Australian contender joins Dana White’s organisation as it continues to add established fighters to its stable, providing him with a new platform in the 118-pound division.
Moloney (29-4, 20 KOs) brings significant championship experience to the promotion. He claimed the vacant WBO world title in May 2023 with a majority decision victory over Vincent Astrolabio and made one successful defence against Saul Sanchez. His reign ended a year later when he lost the belt to Japan’s Yoshiki Takei. Although Moloney has lost three of his last five contests, those defeats came against elite opposition. His only career losses have been to Naoya Inoue, Emmanuel Rodriguez, Tenshin Nasukawa, and Takei, all highly respected fighters.
He is not a fighter in decline. Following the loss of his world title, Moloney secured two consecutive victories to rebuild momentum. His most recent win over Andre Donovan in April earned him the IBF Inter-Continental bantamweight title, confirming he remains competitive at a high level. This signing gives Zuffa Boxing a durable veteran who is a recognisable name to boxing audiences worldwide.
For Zuffa, the addition of Moloney provides a proven professional capable of producing entertaining fights and testing emerging contenders. The bantamweight division is not as deep as others, meaning a former champion like Moloney could secure meaningful matchups quickly. While he would not be favoured against the division’s current champions, his experience and willingness to face top-tier opponents make him a valuable asset for a promotion looking to build its roster and schedule compelling events.
