Two key starters for the Minnesota Vikings stayed off the field Wednesday as they opened their week of practice preparation for Detroit.

Minnesota Vikings starters Aaron Jones and Joe Huber did not participate in Wednesday's practice as the team began preparations to face the Detroit Lions. Running back Jones aggravated an ongoing MCL sprain against the Indianapolis Colts, while starting left guard Huber is managing knee soreness. Head coach Kevin O'Connell indicated that Huber was given a day of rest and that Jones is currently considered day-to-day.
Neither injury is viewed as a long-term problem, but the health concerns could impact general manager Nolan Teasley's trade deadline strategy. Trevor Keegan and rookie Caleb Tiernan took left guard reps during Huber's absence. In the backfield, Jordan Mason returned from injured reserve last week, with Demond Claiborne and DeeJay Dallas also available to provide depth if Jones is limited.
